LEV YASHIN, USSR Moscow Dynamo 1954-1970
Known as "the Black Spider" or "the Black Panther", Lev Yashin's power to pounce and eye-popping range allow him to be considered by many as "the goalkeeper of the century." He began his career with the Moscow Dynamo and made his debut for the Soviet Union in 1954. He won Olympic Gold in 1956, and the first European Nations Cup in 1960. His other accomplishments include being named the 1963 European Footballer of the Year. He lead the Dynamo to five league titles, and lead the Soviet team to their best-ever World Cup placement at 4th in the 1966 Finals. In a famous WorldXI match, a diving, full-length save against the British XI is still legend.
