Nicknamed "The Divine Master" by the Uruguayans, Domingos was master at fullback and could adapt from the roaming defender role to a marker position in the 2-3-5 formation with great ease. His skills were sought by many teams throughout South America as evidenced by his well-traveled and lengthy career. He debuted for Brazil in 1931 and helped the national team reach the 1938 World Cup semi-final.
