CARLOS ALBERTO TORRES Fluminese, Brazil-Santos Botafogo, New York Cosmos (USA) 1963-82
Captain of the 1970 Brazilian "three-peat" World Cup Champions, he capped off the victory with the final goal over Italy. Pele's right back-man, and considered to be the best right back during the early 1970's, Alberto teamed with Pele to lead numerous squads to the top. Wherever Alberto played victory followed: 1964 his rookie professional year he lead his junior league team Fluminese to the crown and then made the national team; 1965 along with Pele, he lead Santos to 3 Sao Paulo league titles; mid-70's he joined Pele to lead the New York Cosmos to the top of American soccer. Considered by many to be as great a player as Pele during his heydey, he made Pele an even greater player.
